Is Twitter the next big public relations social network for online branding and marketing?

An article published in Chennai Chronicle on Sept. 04, 2013, discusses about Twitter. Titled “Twitter public relations is PR 2.0” written by Mr Vikram Karve, it focuses on and gives the perspective of how Twitter is redefining the way news and views are shared.

Twitter has clearly emerged as one of the top winners of all the social media networking channels. With messages being 140 characters or less, it is straight to the point with no fluff. Or at least not as much as can be seen in other places.
In India, Twitter is used as one of the top engagement channel by different brands, to such an extent that now consumers instead of trying to reach out to the customer cells of different brands, are actually engaging with them through Twitter.
Politics is one major area where Twitter has shown its might.
You name the types of media, whether it be text, image, link, etc, it is on Twitter. What’s more you can follow your favourite celebrities too, in Twitter.
One big thing which can be attributed for the success that has been achieved and can be further achieved in Twitter is due to the presence of having a high level of democracy. The sharing of news and happens real quick and if you have info which is really good and worth sharing, it is bound to go viral.
The speed at which the message spreads in Twitter is really amazing. Taking into consideration how much Twitter has helped people grow forward, this social network has been instrumental in creating, positioning and promoting more brands globally than other social networks.
Some of the world’s influential people are present in Twitter. For some it is the only social networking site they use, for many it is where they spend most of their time, energy and effort when it comes to social networking. This is the testimony of how much influential and dynamic Twitter is.
Twitter forms the basic of the customer cells for major brands globally. And since any message can spread globally all customer complaints are taken into consideration and acted upon immediately in Twitter.
Today in the competitive biz world it is all about customer engagement. And Twitter by far has proven to be the best and faster PR social network.
